Born in 1957. The artist's father, Alfonsas, built various things that were needed around the house. The artist's grandfather was a smith, made tasty beer, carved spoons. Vydas began to carve spoons because that is what his grandfather did, and in addition, he remembers that in childhood he ate with a spoon made by his grandfather. Made his first spoon not long before his wedding. Later, decided to make a collection of spoons. Has already completed more than 70. In or around 1981, began to carve in a more serious way, and a year later, began to participate in exhibitions. Enjoys carving humourous sculptures, Shrovetide (Carnival) masks. Since 1990, is a member of the Lithuanian Folk Artists' Society.
