Valdis Lauris was born in 1969. Since 1998, has been working with wood. From solid wood, produces household and kitchen items, souvenirs, and garden furniture. Learned his craft from all the masters with whom he worked as an assistant. Valdis began his journey as a craftsman in his hometown, Meia-Pokaini. Because the owners of the homes in the area were long known by the name of Pokainis, Valdis chose Pokainis as the name of his company. This name marks his works. Among his works you will not find two that are exactly alike, because each and every one of them is worked and carved by hand in conformity to the pattern of the wood itself. Working with wood, Valdis constantly seeks new challenges. Having started with small kitchen items, he soon began to take on larger tasks, including production of garden furniture. Valdis has also tested himself by restoring old things. The master takes his works to fairs and to commercial shows and exhibitions.
