Wood - carving is a hobby of Haralds Bauze. Started to make wooden figures only after retiring and may be considered a self-taught wood-carver. Everyone has been given different talents and gifts. Haralds Bauze has been blessed to find his in wood-carving. His wooden sculptures – the Giant, the Dolls, the Dwarf, the pig and others - are on display in his family garden and available to visitors. Skaidrite Bauze, his wife, is a Master of Applied Arts and a well-known knitter of mittens in Latvia. Visiting the "Lejnieki" garden gives one an excellent opportunity to see her large collection of more than 100 pairs of colourful mittens, along with the wooden figures of Haralds Bauze in their spacious and very interesting garden on the banks of the river Berze.
