About the project

Administration of Rokiskis region municipality together with other partners from Latvia and Lithuania is implementing the project LLI-023 „Interstate net by applying art and crafts as measure of competence and stimulation between boarder areas of Latvia and Lithuania/ Crafts of Middle Baltic“. Target of the project – to stimulate Latvian – Lithuanian boarder area‘s attraction and competitiveness through the implementation of net of interstate crafts and traditional art.

Wood processing craft has old traditions. Crafters have used to build houses, manufacture furniture for them and make various things required for economy, manufacture crosses using wood. Crafters have understood meaning of functionality of the thing perfectly. We will not find any useless details, pointless slender in their works. The old wood heritage admires and attracts with its simplicity and perfection. Nowadays wood crafters draw their artistic inspiration and ideas from the old crafters and create works that are usable for man of presence.
Partners of the Project „Crafts of Middle Baltic“have been famous with wood crafters and their works for ages. Implementation of this project has stimulated even more the development of wood crafts. Site visitors have a possibility to get acquainted with the old wood heritage, present crafters and various type products created by them, to compare what traditions and manufacturing tempera are saved.
