Born in 1951, in the town of Rietavas in Plunge district. Inherited a love for carving from his grandfather, who was a well-known carver of clogs.While attended secondary school, encouraged by his teacher )uozas Voveris, took his first creative footsteps. Worked in the Panevežys productioncompany "Tulpe" as a wood-carver. In 1983, took up residence in Patiliiai village in RokiSkis district. Since that year, has again returned to independent creative work. In 1987, participated in an all-Union exhibition in Moscow where he was awarded a pize medal. In 1985, participated in exhibitions in Mexico and Vietnam. ln 1990, was able to discover a method of carving used in Japan some 200 years ago, called "Ukibori". Uses this technique to the present day.
