Almantas Sriubiškis

Rokiškis

Born in 1959, in Pandėlys. Graduated from the Pandelys Secondary School and the Vilnius State Pedagogical Institute. Since 1981, has worked as a technological and practical studies teacher at the Pandelys Gymnasium of the Rokiškis district. Has always tried to make full use of learning opportunities. Has learned to weave with carved, round canes (by himsell made the equipment necessary for weaving), ceramics, (has tried to throw pottery). Made his own throwing wheel, worked with glazes and smoked (blackened) ceramics. Attended wood-carving and sculpting seminars. Learned smithing on his own. All that he has learned he has also taught: weaving baskets and dishes, shaping, moulding, and carving sculptures. At present, leads a wood-carving group.
