Rihards Šturme

Jelgava

Born in 1989, in Jelgava. Attended the Stalgene primary school and, in 2009, graduated from the Riga School of Arts and Crafts. As the best graduate of the school that year, he received a certificate of Period Cabinet Maker, issued by the International Education Society (London). That same year, he received a journeyman diploma of styled furniture maker, issued by the Latvian Chamber of
Crafts. From August 2009 to February 2010, he worked at "LIDO Dizaina Rupnica" (LIDO Design Factory) as a turner and woodcarver. At present, works as a freelance craftsman, with activities including antique furniture restoration, xylography, and turnery. Has helped several artists to turn their ideas into realify, making custom furniture. Has collaborated with other artists in a modern
art exhibition. W.hile still attending school, participated in the competition "Skulpturas sedesanai" (Sculptures for sitting) in Bukulti, which was organised by the Latvian Chamber of Crafts and the administration of the Riga suburb
Vidzeme.
